Bossard's career began in 1999 when she was offered a position aboard the F/V Sunset. This 65 foot vessel, which was a halibut fishing vessel, was transformed to a salmon tender by Murat Ariatn, who has been commercial fishing for the past twenty years. Bossard was married to Aritan in 1999. The pair have come together in fighting for their company. They support conservative, profitable managing of the renewable resources for seafood. Otolith is a direct wholesale seafood distributor that was started by a woman in Philadelphia in 2007 by a woman who is now the mother of two children, Bella aged 3, and Andre one year old. She and her husband are separated by five months, and she is able to be focused on her goals in terms of finances and her environmental goals. Bossard's daughters Isabella 12 years old and son Andre 10 visit each year for a visit to Southeast Alaska to work in the deckhand position during wild salmon season. For two months, Bossard and Isabella utilize hooks and lines to fish for their target salmon. Aritan will then sell their catch locally to processors.
